Artist Statement:
My work is an exploration of color, curiosity, and the beauty that surrounds us.
Inspired by nature, travel, memory, childhood and everyday moments of wonder, I create paintings that invite joy, connection, and light into the spaces we inhabit. Whether expressed through layered abstractions, floral forms, playful marks, or imaginative subjects, my work is rooted in the belief that beauty has the power to transform how we experience the world.
I approach painting intuitively, allowing color, texture, and movement to guide the process. Working primarily with acrylic paint and oil stick, I build compositions through layers of exploration and discovery. Rather than beginning with a fixed outcome, I follow what feels alive, trusting that each painting will reveal its own personality along the way.
Many of my collections are inspired by observation and nostalgia. The way sunlight settles across a room, the rhythm of a garden in bloom, the energy of a new place, or the quiet details that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through my Field Notes series and other bodies of work, I seek to celebrate both the extraordinary and the everyday.
At its heart, my work is an invitation to pause, look closer, and reconnect with a sense of wonder. My hope is that each painting brings warmth, optimism, and a reminder that beauty can still be found, even in unexpected places.
Artist Bio:
Vicky Reddish is a Nashville-based contemporary artist known for her vibrant use of color, intuitive approach to painting, and diverse body of work that spans expressive abstraction, floral-inspired compositions, and imaginative contemporary subjects.
Born and raised in Middle Tennessee, Vicky draws inspiration from nature, travel, childhood, and the beauty found in everyday life. Her paintings are characterized by layered color, rich texture, and a spirit of exploration that allows each collection to develop its own unique voice while remaining connected through themes of joy, wonder, and observation.
Working primarily with acrylic paint and oil stick, Vicky creates original artwork that balances playfulness with emotional depth. From her Field Notes series to her beloved Fire Horses and abstract explorations, her work celebrates curiosity, imagination, and the moments that remind us to see the world with fresh eyes.
After creating a dedicated studio space in her home in 2019, Vicky committed herself fully to her artistic practice and has continued to evolve her work through experimentation, travel, and daily creative exploration. Her paintings are collected throughout the United States and have been featured in exhibitions and art shows across the South.
Vicky lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee, where she continues to create art with the hope of bringing beauty, joy, and connection into the lives of others.
